Consultation FAQ
The first step in any attorney-client relationship is the initial consultation. The initial consultation is vital, as it allows the attorney to properly diagnose the client’s problem and let the client know what services the attorney can provide to solve the problem. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions regarding our initial consultations at Feldman & Feldman.
What do I need to bring with me to my consultation?
We ask that our potential clients complete a consultation questionnaire prior to their meeting with an attorney. This questionnaire provides us with basic information about the potential client and may ask for specific documentation that may be useful during the consultation. We encourage you to bring any documentation you believe is helpful to discuss your concerns. Should we believe any additional documentation or information is necessary to provide you with effective legal services we will let you know during the consultation.
How long will my appointment be?
Our typical consultation appointments last from 60-90 minutes.
May I bring friends or family with me to the consultation?
You are free to bring anyone you wish to our offices at the time of your consultation. However, we must meet with the potential client alone as part of the consultation process. This helps us interact with the potential client and discuss their private affairs free of any potential outside influence.
What happens at the end of my consultation?
At the end of the consultation we will let you know what services our firm can provide that will assist you with your legal problem. You will also know what we will charge for those services. Should you wish to retain our firm we will then prepare an “engagement agreement” summarizing what we will do for you, the cost, and any other important aspects of our work for you.
